The NEYMANN ENSEMBLE (Latvia, Austria, Italy) was founded in 2015 and debuted at the Riga Historical Music and Dance Festival. The early music ensemble soon also performed at the Vivat Curlandia! festival of music and arts from the time of the Kettler dynasty of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia (in Bauska, Latvia; 2016–2019), the Baroko Pavasaris Biržuose early music festival in Lithuania (2017), the Gadsimtu Mūzika – Daugavpils festival in Latvia (2019), concerts in Austria, etc. The Neymann Ensemble focuses on Baroque music from the mid-16th to the mid-18th century, and the musicians share a particular interest in the historical art of improvisation.

The Neymann Ensemble consists of musicians from three different European countries who play a wide variety of historical musical instruments: baroque violin, recorders, baroque bassoon, its predecessor the dulcian, lute, viola da gamba, harpsichord, organ and also tenor voice. The musicians regularly add to their skills and knowledge by participating in masterclasses and at schools such as the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien in Austria, the Conservatorio di Musica di Vicenza “Arrigo Pedrollo” in Italy, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in France and others.

The ensemble enjoys introducing audiences to compositions that are rarely played in concert or are by composers who are completely unknown in Latvia, as is the case with its newest chamber music programmes, “Viaggio Bertali e Cavalli” and “Vibes of Purcell”.
